Interactive Event Installation

Sector
Média
Period
2022

During Paris Games Week, an interactive installation was deployed at the Xbox booth, commissioned by Highlab Marketing & Technologies and the intermediary Uniteam. The event activation invited visitors to participate in a sprint timed by laser sensors to compare their performance with that of the Équipe de France de football players. The major technical challenge involved synchronizing this physical hardware, controlled by a Raspberry Pi, in real time with digital interfaces via a Node.js and Socket.IO server. The complete user journey integrated a kiosk-based registration application with photo capture, alongside the synchronized broadcast of Unity animations on a giant 10x2 meter screen displaying a countdown and generating a results QR code for each participant.

Project description

Creation of an interactive installation for Xbox (via the intermediary Uniteam and the direct client Highlab Marketing & Technologies) during the PGW. The setup allows visitors to participate in a speed race timed by laser sensors, with registration on a terminal and display on a giant screen.

Context and challenges

The project aims to offer an engaging event animation on the Xbox booth, where participants compare their running speed to that of players from the French national football team. The major technical challenge is the real-time synchronization between the physical hardware (sensors, Raspberry Pi) and the digital interfaces.

Key achievements

Development of a terminal registration application with webcam photo capture and opt-in acceptance. Setup of a Node.js server communicating via Socket.IO with a Raspberry Pi to capture signals from the racing lasers. Integration of animations (Unity) and synchronized broadcasting on a 10x2 meter screen including a countdown, player videos, and generation of a result QR code.
