An interactive, connected running simulation installation was deployed at the Kiprun by Décathlon booth during the Run Experience trade show. The runner's speed required real-time synchronization with the visual display, operating with zero latency. Running on Unity, the vertical-screen simulator translated the treadmill's physical inputs in real time. The system operated continuously for a total of 23 hours over the three-day event without interruption. The application autonomously distributed all 42 allocated prizes throughout the event.

Having hundreds of visitors run at a trade show without clogging the booth required flawless mechanics. The experience had to synchronize a mechanical treadmill with responsive graphic rendering, while managing prizes autonomously during three days of continuous high attendance.

The approach

We developed an interactive, vertically formatted installation in Unity, connected to a physical sensor attached to the treadmill. Each pulse advances the avatar by three meters in a stylized 3D Paris. Real speed, distance to the nearest thousandth, and the timer are displayed live. As soon as the finish line is crossed, a prize wheel distributes rewards without manual entry. Automated timers reset the screen to welcome the next runner.

Results

The system totaled 23 cumulative operating hours without technical downtime over the three days of the event. The system autonomously managed and awarded all 42 scheduled prizes to participants.
