Deployed during the Lollapalooza festival in July 2022, an interactive digital game based on Kinect technology was designed to engage visitors at the American Express Air France booth. Commissioned by Highlab Marketing & Technologies through the agency Lili&Co, this Unity-developed setup allows one or two players to use hand tracking to catch virtual cards during 90-second timed games. The experience incorporates an instant-win mechanic scheduled at specific times to distribute prizes to festival-goers. Alongside this, a dedicated monitoring application accompanies the installation, enabling on-site teams to register participants and securely collect qualified, opt-in data that can be automatically exported in CSV format.

Project description

Development of an interactive digital game based on Kinect technology for the American Express Air France booth at the Lollapalooza 2022 festival. The experience allows one or two players to catch virtual cards to accumulate points and win prizes. A monitoring application accompanies the setup for the registration of participants by the hosts and hostesses.


Context and challenges

The project is part of an event brand activation for American Express Air France during the Lollapalooza festival. The main challenge is to animate the booth, engage festival-goers through a 100% winning playful experience, and collect qualified data (opt-in) for the brand.


Key achievements

Creation of a Kinect game developed on Unity with hand tracking, where players must catch cards (Silver, Gold, Platinium, Bonus, Malus) in 1 minute 30. Development of a monitoring interface for player registration (first name, last name, contact, legal opt-in) and game management. Implementation of an instant win mechanic at specific times and an automatic export of game data in CSV format. Integration of animations, visual feedback, and a complete sound design (background music and FX).


Results

The installation was successfully deployed at the Lollapalooza festival from July 16 to 17, 2022. The setup allowed the distribution of numerous prizes while ensuring the secure collection of participant data.
